Future Faces of Healthcare Intern

I grew up in Beijing, China, and moved to Canada in 2019. I completed my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Prince Edward Island, after which I was accepted into the Master of Physiotherapy program at Queen’s University. I am now in my second year of the program.

I have always been an active person and have loved going to the gym since I was young. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a fitness trainer and often saw clients forced to stop doing what they loved because of physical injuries and pain. I wanted to help them, but I realized that as a trainer, my knowledge was limited. This inspired me to pursue further education in rehabilitation and become a physiotherapist so I could better support people in preventing injuries and returning to the activities they enjoy.

As a new immigrant, I also became aware that many individuals in similar situations face significant barriers to accessing the healthcare they need due to various socioeconomic constraints. Future Faces of Healthcare gives me a meaningful opportunity to serve marginalized communities, support their members in enhancing health literacy, and help improve their access to essential healthcare services.
