Location: Downtown Core
Hey, welcome to Foundation Physiotherapy! My name is Alex, and I am one of the Registered Physiotherapists at the Downtown Core location.
After graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science, I completed one year in chiropody at the Michener Institute of Education and then continued my journey towards a Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto.
I have long been fascinated with anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and how our body systems work together to create such a robust yet delicate machine. Furthermore, it is incredible to me how effective treatment plans can be when someone is listened to, understood, assessed thoroughly, and involved maximally in their treatment plan. This is my commitment to you. My approach involves education, manual therapy and McKenzie/MDT techniques, taping, and unique exercise plans. I am also proficient in integrated dry needling as well as acupuncture, and enjoy learning about Western and Eastern approaches to medicine and how they complement each other.
I have substantial experience working with and treating patients who have undergone total hip/knee replacements, fractures of the upper/lower body, rotator cuff and total shoulder replacement surgeries, and spinal decompression surgeries. In addition, I also treat more common orthopaedic conditions including frozen shoulder or instability, low back pain, hip & knee pain, plantar fasciitis, and osteoarthritis among others. Overall, whether you feel your injury is big or small, I am confident that we can establish realistic goals and achieve them together.
When I am not at the clinic, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, playing basketball, soccer, and video games, learning martial arts (Muay Thai/TKD), traveling across the world, and watching movies or shows.
